Frisbee Cups
I learned this yard game from all my Ultimate Frisbee friends. This should be classified as a sport rather than a game because you will need throwing and catching skills to play. How good is your reaction time?
Set up
All you need for this yard game is Frisbee, four plastic cups and for gardening poles. That and a place to throw a Frisbee. This is a team sport so you will need four players. You could play with only two people but four is a lot better. It is a team sport so there are two teams with two people per team.
The game
First you will need to set up the poles. Put two poles in the ground roughly one frisbee length apart from each other. You want enough room for a frisbee to be able to fly between the poles. Then put a plastic cup on top of each pole. The do the same with the other two poles and cups. The two sets of poles should be about 15 feet apart from each other. When all is set up, players take their positions. One team will stand behind a set of poles and their oppents will stand behind the opposite set of poles. Decide which team will throw first and begin. Each team takes a turn throwing the frisbee at their oppents poles. The object of the game is to be the first team to reach 21 points. More about scoring below.
Scoring
There are two ways to score in this yard game. The first way is to throw the frisbee between the two poles without hitting either pole. If you can do this your team will earn two points. The second way to earn points is by hitting the poles with the frisbee and knocking the cups off. You will recieve one point for each cup that falls to the ground. But this is where it gets exciting. If the other team manages to catch a cup that was knocked off the pole, that team gets a point for each cup they catch. You will have to be quick if you want to catch these cups! Continue to throw the frisbee at each others poles and keep track of the score. The first team to 21 points wins!
Pro tip: This is game is often played while holding a drink in one hand. Not only does it make it more challenging to catch the cup with one hand but drinking outside is a great way to enjoy life! Be careful not to get a party foul by spilling your drink!
